How to Replace your Acer Aspire 7750G Laptop Screen

I was recently asked if I could replace the screen on a laptop computer. The laptop turned out to be an Acer Aspire 7750G. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to accomplish this task. There was no need to take the whole laptop apart to gain access to the screens ribbon cable.

Below are the steps I used to remove the bad screen:

  1. Make sure the laptop is powered down and that the power cord is disconnected.
  2. Remove the two rubber covers at the bottom left and right corners of the screen.
  3. Take a phillips head screwdriver and remove the two screws revealed by step one.
  4. Using a flat screwdriver (or anything flat), remove the screens bezel.
  5. Next, remove all screws at the base and sides of the screen. Be careful when doing this. You can easily damage the hinges at the base.
  6. Once all of the screws have been removed, place the screen face down, preferably on something soft.
  7. On the back of the screen there is a ribbon cable. Carefully remove the ribbon cable from it's connector.

That is it. You should be able to take the screen away and start installing the new screen. To do that, reverse the steps above. Then it is just a matter of powering up and enjoying your laptop once again.
